Ms Purwar graduated from King George Medical University. She completed her Gynaecology training in the West Midlands region during which she completed advanced training module in Urogynecology. After doing a clinical research fellowship in Urogynaecology at the prestigious Imperial College NHS healthcare Trust, she completed three years of RCOG (Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) accredited subspecialist training in Urogynaecology at Singleton Hospital, Swansea. She holds a postgraduate certificate in Gynaecology Ultrasound. She is currently working as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Sub-specialist Urogynaecologist at University of Derby and Burton Hospital NHS Trust.
She is the Urogynaecology MDT lead and Chair of Gynaecology guideline committee at the University of Derby and Burton Hospital NHS Trust. She is a member of audit committee of British Society of Urogynaecology. A keen academician, she has 15 publications and numerous poster presentations in national and international conferences. Her research interests include urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
Ms Purwar’s surgical interests include treatment for primary and recurrent prolapse repairs- vaginal hysterectomy and prolapse repair, colpocleisis, autologous fascial sling and Bulkamid for stress urinary incontinence, cystoscopy, Botox to bladder, hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation, diagnostic laparoscopy and ovarian cystectomy/oopherectomy.
In addition to pelvic floor disorders, Ms Purwar also offers treatment for a wide range of common gynaecological problems including pelvic pain, heavy periods and ovarian cysts. She believes in adopting a multidisciplinary approach.
Ms Purwar’s awards include Winner of Best Higher Trainee Award as well as trainee prize in 23rd European Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Glasgow, UK. She is mother to 2 children and likes to dance and read.
