Dr Williams has over 20 years of experience helping patients with complex pain conditions. He works in a busy pain clinic at the Royal Derby Hospital where he diagnoses and manages the majority of commonly seen pain conditions. He is familiar and competent in performing a wide spectrum of pain interventional procedures including, but not limited to: facet median nerve injections and denervations throughout the spine, sacroiliac joint injections, peripheral nerve injections, and suprascapular nerve procedures.
Previously the Lead for the Pain Service and Clinical Director of the Anaesthetic Department within the Trust, Dr Williams is currently the Divisional Medical Director for Surgery at UHDB and an Associate Professor of Pain Management and Anaesthesia at the University of Nottingham. He has research interests in the areas of pain management, pain therapies and healthy musculoskeletal ageing. Widely published in these fields his research has attracted grant funding in excess of £4.5 million, resulting in him being asked to lecture at national and international meetings and allowed him to support fifteen research fellows to higher degrees over the last 12 years.
