Dr Ahmad is a Consultant Haematologist specialising in the treatment of a broad range of blood and bone marrow disorders. He received his specialist training in London at Kings College Hospital and St Thomas Hospital as part of the London Deanery’s training programme. During his time at Kings, he received comprehensive training both in malignant and non-malignant haematological diseases. He also received specialist training in bone marrow transplantation and served as the BM Transplant Coordinator. He then moved to St Thomas Hospital London as a Senior Registrar where he received advanced specialist training in thrombotic disorders, antiphospholipid syndrome, myeloproliferative neoplasms and Sickle Cell disease.
After working in various hospitals in London for some time, Dr Ahmad moved to Derby in 2007 and has been serving as a Consultant Haematologist at QHB since. Dr Ahmad strives to deliver patient-centred and compassionate care to all his patients. He led on developing an award winning electronic system for clot prevention at QHB and remains an advocate for improving patient safety and patient experience. He has been recipient of various awards including Wow award and the Health and Social Care Award for Patient Safety in 2009. His department at Queens Hospital Burton has been recognised for Clinical Service Excellence by Myeloma UK which is the largest UK charity for Myeloma patients.
