Consultant Cardiologist Dr McIntosh completed his medical degree in Scotland in 2003 and undertook the majority of his cardiology sub-specialty training in London. During this period he trained in internationally recognised centres of excellence, including Imperial College and The Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust. Prior to being appointed as a consultant in the UK he spent two years completing international fellowships in Wellington, NZ (Cardiac Electrophysiology and Complex Cardiac Device Implantation) and in Waikato, NZ (Coronary Artery Intervention and Structural Heart Disease).
He specialises in the diagnosis and invasive treatment of coronary artery disease and in the implantation of cardiac rhythm management devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. He also holds a special interest in the management of heart failure and in the implantation of cardiac resynchronisation therapy. He has pursued research interests in the field and previously received recognition as ‘Scientific investigator of the Year,’ by the British Society of Echocardiography.
Dr McIntosh will see patients with all routine cardiac complaints or those who are experiencing suspected cardiac symptoms such as chest pain, palpitations, ankle swelling, breathlessness, dizziness or faints.
