Dr Goddard qualified in Cambridge and then trained in Cambridge, Norwich, Nottingham, Lincoln and Derby. He was appointed as a consultant in Derby in 2001. His MD was on the management of peptic ulcer disease.
He has published over 50 peer reviewed papers and book chapters, is lead author of the national guidelines for the management of iron deficiency anaemia and the national guidelines for the management of gastric polyps. He is clinical director of the Derbyshire Bowel Cancer Screening Centre and has recently been appointed as Registrar of the Royal College of Physicians.
